2 different technologies take energy directly from the Sun
- Photo-Voltaic cells and panels convert the sun's energy directly into electricity
- Solar Thermal converts the sun's energy into heat, typically to heat hot water
Photo-Voltaics
Until now Photo-Voltaic ( PV) panels have been very expensive with no realistic "pay-back period" and, even with grant support, we have been reluctant to recommend them to clients.
However, with grant support for public bodies, some installations such as this one at Milverton School are possible.
Solar Thermal
Renewable Power does not supply solar hot water systems but if you live or are based in Somerset or Devon, we can recommend a local company, which has experience of installing hundreds of solar thermal systems, along with a professional, genuine and ethical approach.
